Invitation to Attend

This is the first major biodiversity Conference in our region and, given the significant changes that are occurring to the environment, it is not before time. Our region of the Pacific has particular issues relevant to our part of the world as well as the major problems affecting the rest of the world's biodiversity.
This Conference is an ideal opportunity for scientists, managers and policy makers to catch up on the major issues affecting biodiversity and the environment and what we are collectively doing or not doing about it.

The five themes we have chosen will all have at least one key note speaker in a plenary session, followed by oral and poster papers that are relevant to that particular theme.

Whether you are a researcher, student, manager or policy-maker, there will be lots of good information and contacts that you will be able to build on by coming to this Conference. We are particularly interested in encouraging attendance from not just scientists but also policy-makers and managers from government organisations and non-government organisations.

Invitation from the Australasia Section of the Society for Conservation Biology

Invitation from the Australasia Section of the Society for Conservation Biology

The Australasia Section of the Society for Conservation Biology is keen for conservation science to guide policy and management for ecosystems and species in our region. We believe this inaugural conference provides a wonderful opportunity for us to kick start this process and increase the awareness among the general community and policy makers. There is considerable interest now in the issues of conservation biology and its application for the protection and management of species around the world. We are a long way from the solving the sometimes overwhelming issues of conservation but many people are achieving great things for species and their habitats. This first conference of the Australasia Section of the Society for Conservation Biology provides a wonderful opportunity for all of you to participate and hear about conservation biology in our region. Whether you are a policy maker, manager, scientist or student, we hope to see you in Sydney in 2007.
